About Abbie Loyd Kern
My Nikon camera(s) & an iPhone follow me everywhere. I shoot or paint daily, trying to capture at least a moment within my life - day or night. I like working with wildlife, water reflections, light & color the best - enjoying the art of processing immensely. I love abstract art. I use the camera, oil, water & acrylic paints - to capture the foundation of the piece. Education & Experience: I graduated from Washburn University in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Creative & Performing Arts with emphasis in English Literature & Dance. My jobs have involved visual language for over 30 years. Light, color & texture are three critical elements within each of my pieces. I am the daughter of a professional...

I don't understand, but MARVELOUS! l, f, WHAT?
Abbie Loyd Kern replied:
LOL!!!!! Thank you! I'll explain... The electric company has erected these huge industrial size power poles. I've been taking photos of their reflection in the water along where I hike. I thought about naming the photograph "Mercurochrome," but then I researched the name & the "denatured" explanation seem to stick - sort of goes along with the jux between nature & these behemoth man made structures of power. Denatured also has some dubious meanings, which I found rather interesting. We now have a grid system of them all over our city.... Thank you again , Jim!!!!!
